CLERGY & STAFF
Father Matt, our new Lead Pastor as of 2019, came from the Church of St. John the Divine in Houston where he oversaw young professionals, missions and outreach, contemporary worship, and the development of emerging leaders. Prior to that he served as diocesan youth and young adults director for the diocese of Arizona, was a church planter, and taught seminary. Before becoming an Episcopal priest, Matt was on Young Life staff where he started Young Life in two new cities and oversaw the transition of Arizona's original area into multi-ethnic ministry.

Matt has a Masters in Educational Leadership from Arizona State, and a Masters of Divinity from Phoenix Seminary. He and Kari have an adult daughter, a son in the Naval Academy, and a poorly behaved dog named Majerle. Matt likes to drink coffee, talk about Jesus and church history, and will shamelessly invite himself to crew on your sailboat.

I invite you to check out Fr. Matt's blog at thegospelside.com.
